• I wanted to give all of my time to the experience and none of my time to what I can do when I’m at home.
• The community of people that I started speaking with really gave me the courage to do it.
• Everyone’s going down the hill of their life on the brakes and then it’s the moment you decide to release the brakes!
• The most important moment is when I was lying in my bed that night and making the decision to do it. I think that’s more powerful than getting to the actual terminus.
• I think it’s important to get used to discomfort before you go. Get used to suffering.
• Knowing that if you do this small thing every day, you’re gonna arrive somewhere.
• I don’t think I’m ever going to think about something for many years and let myself be stopped by limitations.
• I felt sooo good. Like I was at the right place and I was enjoying it and I didn’t care about the pain.
• I’d also made a really big commitment before going there that I was going to finish. That I was not trying the trail, I was DOING the trail from A to Z.
• You don’t do a thru hike and then your fixed.
